Ande Kolp

Ande is the Executive Director of The Arc Maryland.  Her career includes over 25 years of experience supporting people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and their families.  Prior to coming to The Arc Maryland in 2017, she was the Executive Director for Compass, Inc., a private non-profit organization specializing in Residential and Employment Services for people with co-occurring Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health Conditions living in Montgomery, Prince George’s, Howard, and Charles Counties.

Ande has served in different administrative capacities for three Arc Chapter agencies in Maryland over a period of 13 years (Prince George’s County, Howard County, and Montgomery County) and in a support capacity for one Arc chapter (Baltimore).

Her experience also includes previous service on the Boards of Directors for The Maryland Association of Community Services and The Association of Community Services of Howard County.  She was a Commissioner for the Howard County Commission on Disabilities from 2011 to 2021 and was appointed to the Maryland State Commission on Disabilities in 2020.  She is currently a board member of Silhouette Stages, Inc, a community theater company, in addition to serving on the board of the Maryland Inclusive Housing Co. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy from the University of Iowa and a Master’s Degree in Special Education with a Concentration in Severe Disabilities from The Johns Hopkins University.

Ande believes that housing is central to the wellbeing of all. As a basic need, it is important that housing exist for people that is affordable, accessible, and in communities of choice. Housing is the key to stability.
