SUMMARY:Accommodations/Modifications:A Housing Provider Primer
DESCRIPTION:Various federal and state laws require housing providers to make reasonable accommodations and reasonable modifications for individuals with disabilities. These laws also prohibit housing providers from refusing residency to persons with disabilities\, or placing conditions on their residency\, because they require reasonable accommodations or modifications. This training will provide an overview of the Fair Housing Act\, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act\, the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Maryland Fair Housing Act.  The session will also review the associated housing provider requirements throughout the housing process.  In addition\, this training will provide information about the service system that can assist people with disabilities to live successfully in the community. \nThrough this training\, participants will be able to: \n\nDefine reasonable accommodations and modifications;\nIdentify the legal requirements for reasonable accommodations and modifications;\nRespond promptly to requests for reasonable accommodations or modifications; and\nEngage in a discussion that results in an effective accommodation or modification for the requester that does not pose an undue financial and administrative burden for the housing provider.\n\nThis is an interactive\, skills-oriented presentation designed to improve your ability to meet your requirements as a housing provider and assist people with disabilities to use and enjoy their housing. \nLearn more and register.

SUMMARY:Why are We Still Confused About Emotional Support Animals and Service Dogs?
DESCRIPTION:One of the most confusing changes in Fair Housing is Service and Emotional Support Animals. \nWe continue struggling with how to gain confirmation from health services providers\, and what we can and can’t ask.  Residents/applicants still show up with cards from fake sources on the internet. Some people show up with 2 pets and two service/support animals…what do we do? \nLearn more and register.

SUMMARY:Homeownership for People with Disabilities
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Maddy Ciulu from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development The Maryland Mortgage Program (MMP) provides 30-year fixed-rate home loans to eligible homebuyers purchasing in Maryland. Loan terms are competitive with other home loan products on the market\, but what makes MMP unique is the range of associated financial incentives and other assistance that\, for many homebuyers\, means the difference between being able to purchase and continuing to rent. MMP down payment assistance can only be obtained with an MMP first mortgage; it is not a standalone option. \nLearn more and register.
