About Maryland Inclusive Housing (MIH)
MIH was created to help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities successfully access and maintain inclusive, affordable and accessible housing of their choice by creating opportunities, identifying resources, connecting people and providing services.
Position Summary
Maryland Inclusive Housing Corporation (MIH) is looking for a passionate and professional individual to join our team. The Communications Intern is a part-time position and reports to the Director of Communications. The Communications Intern will assist the Director of Communications in several aspects of MIH’s communications efforts. The focus of this position is to help amplify the message of affordable housing for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Job Responsibilities
Tell the MIH story through multimedia.
- Produce videos highlighting MIH clients and programs.
- Take photographs at events and community activities.
2. Work with the Director of Communications to coordinate MIH’s social media channels and campaigns.
- Monitor social media trends in the IDD and housing fields. Regularly post content on MIH’s Facebook, X, LinkedIn and Instagram platforms.
- Share relevant content from partner organizations.
- Coordinate social media events and virtual engagement opportunities.
- Recommend additional local media channels for MIH.
- Create more accessible and user-friendly affordable housing resources.
- Develop materials for targeted audiences seeking affordable housing opportunities for Marylanders with IDD.
- Assist with website resources and educational materials.
- Explore the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- Assist in crafting communications messaging using AI tools.
- Recommend other ways AI can support MIH’s mission.
- Support the work of MIH regional housing committees through advocacy communications.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree at a Maryland college or university.
- Demonstrated experience and aptitude as a team player.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to work from home and maintain a flexible schedule, including occasional evening and weekend meetings.
- Access to a vehicle for statewide travel (mileage reimbursed).
- Experience or exposure to people with disabilities is desirable.
- Bilingualism in Spanish or other languages is desirable.
- Experience or knowledge of affordable housing development is desirable.
Salary & Benefits
$21 per hour. Minimum of 10 hours per week and up to 20 hours per week. Course credit may be available through a participating college or university.
