Maryland Inclusive Housing (MIH) is looking for candidates to join its Board of Directors starting July 1, 2023. MIH is a non-profit statewide organization with a mission to help Marylanders with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) successfully access and maintain inclusive, affordable, and accessible housing of their choice by creating opportunities, identifying resources, connecting people, and providing services. MIH is looking for candidates to join its Board of Directors starting July 1, 2023 and assume the following positions:
Board Treasurer
MIH is looking for a new member to serve on its Board of Directors and to serve as the Board Treasurer.
This ideal candidate would be proficient at reading and understanding nonprofit financial statements. The candidate would have additional connections to the work of MIH or the people it serves. Connections may include having a family member with a developmental disability (IDD), current involvement in services for people with IDD or being connected to the affordable housing community. The candidate would serve on the MIH Executive Committee once assigned to the position.
Chair of the MIH Board Governance Committee
MIH is looking for a new member to serve on its Board of Directors and to chair its new Board Governance Committee.
The ideal candidate would be familiar with nonprofit board governance. Familiarity may include being experienced with other nonprofit boards, being experienced in management, or the field of law.
The Governance Committee oversees Board of Directors policy development and serves as the nominating committee. Possessing strong community connections, especially in the IDD field would be valuable.
A Board Member with a Disability
MIH is looking for a person or two who has the lived experience of the people it serves. This candidate could have a developmental disability or other type of disability. The ideal candidate would have the experience of living in a home of their own, and/or have benefited from the work of MIH.
