Earlier this month, MIH Director of Housing Char McCready was appointed the Maryland Department of Disabilities Housing Policy Director by Secretary Carol A. Beatty.
In her short time at MIH, McCready accomplished a great deal, highlighted by her leadership of the Inclusionary Housing Coalition that helped pass inclusionary housing bills in Charm City. The legislation will increase affordable housing opportunities for residents of the city. In doing so, she was able to advocate for Baltimoreans with disabilities who are in need of housing.
“I am thankful for the opportunity to work at MIH,” said McCready. “I appreciate learning more about housing needs for individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. I am also grateful for the opportunity to advocate on behalf of people with disabilities and other marginalized people in housing though the Inclusionary Housing Coalition in Baltimore City. Serving with this agency was an honor.”
“Char made very significant contributions to the work of MIH during her time with us, especially her work in Baltimore City,” said MIH Executive Director Tim Wiens. “Although we are very sorry to see her leave, we are proud of her appointment as Director of Housing Policy and Programs at MDOD and we look forward to working with her in that new role.”
