From Vision to Home: Creating Supportive Housing for People with Disabilities
July 22 @ 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Congress has taken important steps in the last year to increase access to rental housing through expansion of the Low Income Housing Tax Credit program and components of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act. These are important actions – but without additional supports such as rental assistance, most of the housing created under these programs will still be out of reach for people with disabilities and older adults on fixed incomes. Supportive housing – which combines affordable housing with flexible services and supports – is a proven, cost-effective approach to helping low-income people with disabilities transition from homelessness, exit or avoid institutional settings, and live successfully in the community. This hour-long webinar will highlight TAC’s updated Priced Out data analysis, and will feature presenters from Louisiana, Georgia, and Maryland who will discuss successful strategies they have used to develop and sustain affordable supportive housing.
