Maryland Public Housing Authorities

Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) have valuable resources to help you find an affordable place to live. PHAs may have a variety of resources, including Housing Choice Vouchers, public housing, or other programs that make housing affordable. Sometimes the PHA waitlist for assistance is open, and sometimes it may be closed. If the waitlist is open, you can apply for Housing Choice Vouchers with the PHA for the area where you live and the area where you work. Sometimes you may be able to apply with more than one PHA if you live in one area and work in another area. Ask your HSS professional for more details.

Now and then a PHA will open its waiting list just for special vouchers for people with disabilitiesWhen this happens, they also sometimes accept applications from people who do not live or work in their jurisdictionYour HSS professional or case will be aware of these opportunities and can assist you with applying.
