MIH Announces New Strategic Plan

Maryland Inclusive Housing (MIH) has announced a new strategic plan that will guide the organization. The plan is designed to reflect current realities while staying true to MIH’s long-term mission: to help Marylanders with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) successfully access and maintain inclusive, affordable, and accessible housing of their choice by creating opportunities, identifying resources, connecting people, and providing services.

The development of the strategic plan followed a focused, multi-phase process that engaged MIH Board members, staff, and community partners to ensure the plan is both grounded in experience and forward-looking in scope. The process included four distinct phases:

  1. Introduction – A time to refocus and reimagine
  2. Define – Setting the strategic direction
  3. Discover – Listening closely to learn and illuminate
  4. Deliver – Developing the plan’s specific goals and strategies

The new plan represents a reboot of MIH’s initial strategic plan, developed in 2022, which has now reached the end of its lifecycle.

MIH worked closely with its Board of Directors and consultant Marc Kolp to formulate the plan. As part of its broader strategy, MIH continues to advocate for affordable housing that is accessible to people with IDD and collaborates with partners working to expand affordable housing opportunities for all Marylanders, particularly those with disabilities.

“In our six years of existence, MIH has made a significant impact across the state of Maryland,” said Executive Director Tim Wiens. “We have provided more than 270 Marylanders with IDD housing support services, and more than 70 individuals have successfully accessed and maintained housing. This new strategic plan will help our organization adapt to the changing needs of the people we serve and a changing financial and regulatory environment, while taking our services to the next level and maintaining MIH’s leadership role in inclusive housing.”
