MIH Meets with Montgomery County Councilmember Andrew Friedson

On July 6, MIH Executive Director Tim Wiens met with Montgomery County Councilmember Andrew Friedson, Main Street Apartments Founder Jillian Copeland and Community Options Maryland State Director Tigest Alemu for lunch at the Soulfull Café, located in the Main Street Apartments in Rockville. The group discussed the work of MIH and interest in creating more affordable, accessible and inclusive housing for people with disabilities in Montgomery County. Friedson, who serves as Vice President of the County Council and Chair of the Council’s Planning, Housing and Parks Committee, was very interested in working with us to make this happen and was supportive of the partnership model that MIH had submitted to the Moore Administration.  He pledged to continue to collaborate with us as we worked toward these goals. Copeland and Alemu are Co-Chairs of the MIH Montgomery County Housing Committee. “I am very excited to continue to collaborate with Councilmember Friedson on expanding affordable housing for people with disabilities in Montgomery County,” said Wiens. “He has an extraordinary understanding of how to make affordable housing work in the county.”
