MIH Partakes in Prince George’s County Listening Session

On September 17, MIH Executive Director Tim Wiens and Director of Housing Ahmna Khan attended the Prince George’s County Commission for Individuals with Disabilities Annual Listening Session, held at St. Mark’s Church in Hyattsville.

Tim Wiens took part in a panel discussion focused on the challenges faced by county residents in advancing disability inclusion in both employment and housing. He was joined by fellow panelists Natalie Mitchell from the Maryland Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) and Candice Crenshaw of the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights, among others.

The event’s keynote address was delivered by Maryland Delegate Nicole Williams, who emphasized the importance of equitable policies and active community engagement in supporting individuals with disabilities.

Following the session, MIH representatives had the opportunity to further discuss these critical issues with Prince George’s County Council Members Jolene Ivey and Wanika Fisher.

“It was encouraging to see the passion and commitment of the commission, elected officials and other participants in making Prince Georges a better place for people with disabilities to live and work,” said Wiens.

“It was great being at this event, surrounded by leaders of different organizations thar are so passionate in serving people with disabilities,” added Khan.
