MIH Welcomes Community Living Coordinator Valerie Crosby

Valerie Crosby, became MIH’s newest Community Living Coordinator in March of 2024. She will be working with Marylanders with disabilities throughout the state and brings experience doing so in both English and Spanish.

A native of New York, Valerie has made Baltimore her home since 2008, upon receiving her her B.A in Psychology and Language, Culture and Civilization from Loyola College in Maryland (now Loyola University).

Upon graduation, Valerie built a career in healthcare and social work, with a special passion for homelessness prevention. This sparked her volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity and employment as a bilingual information advocate with a contract through the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Since 2020, Valerie has served as a licensed realtor for Crosby Connections: Century21 in downtown Baltimore.

“I look forward to bringing my skills and passions of helping people with disabilities and increasing access and inclusion for Spanish-speaking individuals,” said Valerie.

“I am delighted to welcome Valerie as our newest Community Living Coordinator,” said MIH Director of Housing Support Services Lauren Silverstone. “She brings a wealth of knowledge in housing and community services. I look forward to seeing her passion and experience support our mission and help us expand our services to underserved communities.”

When not working, Valerie enjoys spending time with family, friends and her furry companions (two pit bulls and a shy kitty). She also enjoys baking, reading and flying drones (she holds an FAA Part 107 certification!). Valerie often returns to Loyola as an alumni ambassador to connect with new students. She challenges herself to learn something new every single day.
