On Aug. 17, MIH welcomed John Woods, Jr. as its new Communications Intern. In his role, John will assist Director of Communications Andy Krauss with many aspects of MIH’s communications operation, with a particular emphasis on digital storytelling, multimedia production, and social media.
John is beginning his senior year as a Mass Communication student at Towson University, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Science with a minor in Electronic Media and Film. An Honors College student and member of the Alpha Epsilon Rho Media Honor Society, John has developed extensive experience in journalism, broadcasting, video production, graphic design, and social media.
John serves as News Director for the Towson University Newscast, overseeing the organization’s news operations, training student journalists, producing multimedia content, and helping create newscasts and news packages. He also serves as Vice President of the Towson Broadcast Education Association and is a contributing writer for The Towerlight, Towson University’s student newspaper.
Through these roles, John has gained hands-on experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, WordPress, and other communications and production tools. His leadership and involvement at Towson were recognized in 2026 when he received the university’s SGA Student Organization Leader of the Year Award.
“As a person with an intellectual and developmental disability (autism), I’m excited to join MIH and help amplify the organization’s mission and growing list of success stories,” Woods said. “I value MIH’s work deeply and am excited to produce content that raises awareness among future clients and the general public.”
“John brings a wealth of experience that makes him uniquely qualified for this position,” said Director of Communications Andy Krauss. “His interest in both developmental disabilities and local politics makes him a perfect fit. John will undoubtedly help us expand our footprint across the state and amplify our message even further. I’m excited to get started and see what he brings to this internship.”
