N. Burton Consulting LLC CEO Nick Burton Joins MIH Board of Directors

On July 1, Nick Burton, CEO of N. Burton Consulting LLC, became a new member of the Maryland Inclusive Housing Board of Directors.

“Nick will bring both great energy and creativity to the work of the MIH board,” said MIH Executive Director Tim Wiens.

Nick has more than 24 years of experience working in the field of IDD, focusing on programmatic design, implementation and evaluation. They believe in the value of person-centered planning to ensure all people with disabilities can build a life that is important to them. Nick is committed to equity, equality, social justice and ensuring that people have what they need to be their most successful.

Nick has graciously been welcomed into the disability community first by family and then as a career path, starting their journey as a direct support professional working with adults and children in the community. Nick has been a case manager, provider agency leader, and most recently a senior executive in Maryland state government overseeing the programmatic support and services to people with developmental disabilities.

Nick’s life has been focused on ensuring underrepresented communities have a seat at the table and voice in the fight. They grew up in Montana and have had the opportunity to live in other states such as Illinois, Oregon and Maryland which has given them a unique perspective on Long Term Supports and Services (LTSS) across the county and how states implement Home and Community Based Supports (HCBS).

Nick holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Montana and a master’s degree in public administration from Portland State University. They live in the great city of Baltimore Maryland with their husband Thomas and two cats Gary and Lois.

Nick joins Compass, Inc. Executive Director Rick Callahan; retired Maryland Department of Health Director for Fiscal Services, Operations Valerie Roddy; and Athelas Institute, Inc. CFO Ron Taylor as new Board members.
