Daphni Steffin joined the MIH Board in July of 2022. Her career in the intellectual and developmental disability (IDD) field began in 2006 on Maryland’s Eastern Shore as a student director of Best Buddies at Salisbury University. During her 10 years at The Arc Baltimore, Daphni initiated an Assistive Technology program and connected more than 500 people with various assistive technologies to support more independent living, learning, and working.
She went on to serve as Chief Product Officer at iCareManager (iCM), a software vendor for long-term support providers, where she led efforts to integrate with Maryland’s LTSS system and helped expand the company’s national footprint.
In 2023, Daphni returned to her roots in Maryland’s DDA provider community and joined the leadership team at Opportunities, Inc. as Chief Operating Officer. In addition to this role, she serves as Co-Chair of the Maryland DDA Tech First Taskforce and Chair of the Maryland Inclusive Housing (MIH) Standing Committee.
Daphni was the lead contributor to MIH’s Assistive Technology Navigator, an online tool designed to help Marylanders with disabilities and those who support them better understand and access assistive technology services across the state.
She remains deeply committed to improving the lives of people with IDD and strengthening the organizations that support them. Daphni is certified in Assistive Technology through California State University, Northridge, and provides consulting on technology and systems change in addition to her full-time leadership role. She has experience in developing programs, strategic planning, and assessing technology needs at both micro and macro levels. Daphni holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and is a recipient of the Maryland Daily Record’s Leading Women Award.
